The Hidden Chains Holding You Back

What if the only thing standing between you and your dream life… was YOU?

Every time you say, “I’m not good enough,” “Success isn’t for people like me,” or “I’m not smart enough to do that,”—you reinforce an invisible mental cage that keeps you stuck.

The truth? Those thoughts aren’t facts. They’re limiting beliefs, and they are the reason you haven’t broken through yet.

But today, that changes. This guide will show you how to identify and shatter the beliefs keeping you small so you can finally step into the life you deserve.

Because we all deserve to live the life that we crave and feel our most beautiful and confident in.

So let’s dive in.

Why This Work is Life-Changing
What are limiting beliefs? → Deep-rooted subconscious thoughts that tell us what we can’t do. They can be about yourself, your work, or the world around you. It is a state of mind that restricts you and your path forward.

Limiting beliefs are any self deprecating thoughts that you have that are holding you back from growing as a person. It can be verbal beliefs or body language and defense mechanisms that you see yourself doing like self sabotaging or shutting down.

These beliefs often come from a place of negativity and fear that keep us from experiencing new opportunities and going after what we want in life. It can be as big as moving away to start fresh or simply speaking your mind about not wanting to go to a restaurant for dinner.

If you’ve had similar thoughts, you’re not alone. So many wonderful people fight with their beliefs daily, if not hourly.

Why they matter → They affect our confidence, decisions, and success in every area of life.

You need a compelling reason to get yourself to do something that is worthwhile and not your normal.

But if your belief is that you aren’t deserving of chasing after that wonderful thing, then you have a compelling reason NOT to go after it.

Your beliefs shape your actions and your actions shape the world around which affirms your reality of whatever your belief is because you purposefully make it so you only experience what you think you deserve.

If you think your art work for example is subpar (this can be signing, painting, pottery, writing, etc), then you won’t confidently show it to people or when someone says they don’t like it, which is super common because you can’t make something everyone loves, then you take it as law and reaffirming to your belief.

Not knowing that the next person you would’ve shown it to would love it or you won't have the ability to speak up for your art to help show people how to look at your piece.

You lack the ability to advocate for yourself and instead allow other people's opinions to become your law.

The power you give someone is the power they will use on you. Be careful who and what kind of power you give out.

Because the sad thing about our limiting beliefs is that they were given to us by those around us when we were growing and learning about the world.

They shaped us with their insecurities and fears to make sure that the cycle keeps going.

The good news? → Beliefs can be changed—once you know how to spot them and reprogram them. This can take a little work but the work pays off almost instantly and allows you to spread your gorgeous wings and fly to whatever future you want.

You’re able to feel what it feels like to be unlimited and free.

We all deserve the chance to prove to ourselves where our horizon is.

It’s time, my fellow goddess, to divorce the story of your limitations and to embrace your power within!

What’s coming next? → A simple 3-step process to uncover and eliminate limiting beliefs for good.

Step 1: Identify Your Limiting Beliefs
Why This Matters:

You can’t change what you don’t acknowledge.

Most people don’t realize their thoughts are running on autopilot, shaping their reality.

Many of the limiting beliefs that you hold are caused by a lot of different aspects but all stem from your brain's attempt to protect you from unknown future pain….all the while putting you in familiar pain.

This can be triggered by past experiences, societal conditioning, fear, and importer syndrome. Each time it bubbles up, it morphes and evolves to solidify its place within you.

To erode any ideas of self confidence or growth.

But you deserve to grow and be confident so the first step is to figure out your beliefs.

How to Find Your Limiting Beliefs:
✔ Notice the Patterns: What’s a goal you’ve wanted for years but never taken action on?

Have you wanted to start a new job but find yourself never getting the momentum to go after it? Or what about that book you’ve always wanted to write or have written but doing nothing with it?

Look at what you’ve wanted but never did anything with.

✔ Listen to Your Inner Dialogue: What negative thoughts pop up when you imagine success?

Some of the most common limiting beliefs are
  • I’m not :
    • Talented enough to succeed in my field
    • Good enough to pursue my dreams
    • Good enough to be valued for my work or thoughts
    • Confident enough to make this job/project/relationship work
  • I’m too :
    • Old/young to go after a career change or change up my life
    • Unimportant to have anyone care to listen to me
    • Nervous to go talk to this person who could help expand my life
  • I can’t :
    • Apply for this job, i don’t have enough experience or connections
    • Lead a team, who would listen to me?
    • Go on vacation, I don't have the time.
✔ Journal Prompt: “If I were fearless, what would I do differently?”

👉 Example:
  • Thought: “I could never start my own business.”
  • Root Belief: “I’m not smart enough to be an entrepreneur.”

💡 Pro Tip: Most limiting beliefs come from childhood conditioning or past failures—trace them back to their origin! Keep reading to figure out where they came from.

Step 2: Challenge & Reframe the Belief
Why This Matters:
Your beliefs are NOT facts—they are just stories you’ve told yourself over time.

The fastest way to break them? Question them.

As we went over above, these thoughts and thinking aren’t yours so start to question them to see if they even hold weight.

Odds are they don’t.

So choose yourself over the words of another and dig into when and why they are in you.

How to Reframe the Belief:
✔ Ask: Is this really true? (Has anyone like me done this before?) Then use the ‘5 Whys’ method :

The “5 Whys” is a great way to interrogate your initial cause. All you have to do is ask yourself why you’re feeling that way or where your limiting ideas came from then keep asking why until you reach the root cause.

That paired with the evidence of other people proving your idea wrong is a great way to start dismantling your inner dialogue.

✔ Look for counter-evidence. (Have I ever proven this belief wrong?)

Simply look back on your life and see if you’ve ever done something that you once thought you couldn’t?

It doesn’t have to be the belief you hold but rather just another instance where you showed yourself that you can do what you didn’t think you could before.

Maybe something silly like eating a whole pizza when you didn’t think you could or walking a long distance that you’ve never done before or remembering a piece of trivia that you didn’t think you could.

Basically just look for a time where you proved yourself wrong in a good way.

By seeing that you’ve done it before, you know you can do it again.

✔ Flip the script. (What empowering belief can I replace this with?)

👉 Example:
  • Limiting Belief: “I’m too old to change careers.”
  • Reframe: “People reinvent themselves at every stage of life. I have valuable experience to bring to a new career and it would bring passion back into my life.”

💡 Pro Tip: Your brain looks for evidence to support what you believe—feed it empowering thoughts instead!

Step 3: Take Action & Prove the New Belief True
Why This Matters:
You don’t just THINK your way into new beliefs—you act your way into them.

Small aligned actions create real confidence and change.

By showing yourself in small steps that you can trust yourself with change will not only increase your self trust but also your confidence and drive.

It will dissolve your negative beliefs and finally be replaced with better ones as you do this more.

Seeing is believing.

How to Take Action:
✔ Start small: If you think “I’m bad at public speaking,” join a Toastmasters group or practice in the mirror or give a little speech to your pets.

Or if you think you can’t lead, try taking the lead whenever you and a group of friends/family try to figure out what to do or where to go to lunch. It’s a mini, low stake leadership role that you can use to increase your confidence.

And just remember that everyone’s first try at something new usually doesn’t go well so relax if you fumble! It’s ok!

Everyone starts somewhere and remember that if you fail, it just means you learned something new and DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE A FAILURE. You simply just need to change your tactic up.

Don’t mistake an action you take as your identity.

✔ Surround yourself with evidence: Follow people who have done what you want to do.

Follow social media accounts that are where you are now and maybe one step ahead of you.

Be around people who build you up and you can build them up.

We need inspiration so find someone or something that you can feel connected to that will help you on your goal.

✔ Daily Affirmation: “I am capable, worthy, and growing every day.”

And it is important to ACT on those affirmations. Show yourself that you are capable, worthy and growing every day by doing the small action that moves you closer to your goals.

👉 Example:
  • Old Belief: “I’m not creative.”
  • Action: Take a fun painting class or write a short story for fun. Then use the affirmation, “I am becoming more creative every day”.

💡 Pro Tip: Action rewires your brain. The more you do something, the more it becomes your new normal!

Conclusion: Break Free & Step Into Your Power
You are NOT your limiting beliefs. You have the power to rewrite your story at any moment.

Imagine what’s possible when you let go of self-doubt. The version of you that is fearless, bold, and thriving? She’s already inside of you—waiting to be unleashed.

The only question left: Are you ready to step into her?
